Local Government Careers

Local Government Careers is the operational arm of the Local Government Employers' Organisation tasked with promoting careers at all levels within the profession.

Local Government Careers wanted to promote careers in local government, provide very detailed careers information, and deliver it in a way that would be both attractive and technically efficient.

Interaction with visitors is very important for Local Government Careers and one such mechanism on the site is a regular poll, which can very quickly and cost-effectively assess the current attitudes and opinions of people visiting the site.

The website also uses a number of searchable databases to store and display large ammounts of information.

Such areas include the popular careers descriptions search, which displays detailed information on all careers possible in local government and the meet the employers section of the website, which holds information on all local authorities in the UK.

The site is updated using a content management system, enabling the client to change the site as and when required. The bespoke system developed even allows all local authorities in the UK to submit details about themselves, and pending approval from Local Government Careers staff, be displayed on the website.

Each webpage is created dynamically using ASP, creating a more streamlined and efficient website.
