Xentica is the specialist in information-rich, quality-deep, websites. But then we ought to be because we've been building and maintaining them for ten years. We don't just build websites, we construct a reliable and constantly updated web presence that forms the basis for a lasting client relationship.
We are proud to say that one of those relationships has been with Scotland's electrical, electronics and communications systems industry. Xentica built its first website for SELECT, the body that represents those cutting-edge companies, back in 2000 and we've been helping them to maintain and update it, and to add facilities and microsites, ever since.
Keeping websites fresh, and in line with user-expectations, is absolutely vital. Like corporate brochures they need to be reviewed, re-structured, and given a new look and feel as often as possible. SELECT asked Xentica to do just this sort of job on their site, which is as information intensive - full of useful database interaction and up-to-date knowledge - as you'd expect from one of Scotland's premier trade associations.
As well as an informative public area, the website offers comprehensive member, committee and administrator areas, each accessible via a secure login. The website utilises a bespoke content management system which allows SELECT staff to update site content quickly and easily.
It also provides an extremely valuable, searchable database, dynamically-updated training and course calendars, as well as an online shop.
The SELECT Company Finder is a very popular area of the site, allowing visitors to locate member companies by selecting various criteria. Members of the public or corporate clients can locate SELECT's member-companies by specifying a geographic location in an intuitive map system.
For the technically-minded, the system combines a MySQL database, optimised for online interrogation, with PHP scripts developed to allow SELECT to update the company details themselves.
Added to all those features, Xentica has ensured that the website meets the strictest and latest accessibility standards. It is built to meet the Double A standard of the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG).
